The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Gee Horton

Gee Horton (b. 1983) is a self-taught artist based in Cincinnati whose photorealistic drawings explore Black identity, memory, and emotional inheritance. An Emmy Award-winning artist, he has exhibited at institutions including KMAC Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum, Weston Art Gallery, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. His work is held in both private and public collections, including the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Mercantile Library.

Shiree Houf specializes in larger-than-life costumes & wearable art (drag, pageants, costume competitions, installations, & exhibits). Internationally, she’s a 2023 World of WearableArt finalist. Locally, she places in Highball Halloween’s Costume Couture Contest & her designs are in New Vision Dance Co. productions, with many Columbus theatres, & is honored to be a Greater Columbus Arts Council grant recipient. Education: MFA in Design (OSU) & BA in Theatre (Miami University).
Megan Howard

Megan is an artist who prefers working with glass, chalk pastels, markers, and paint markers. She has lived most of her life with Behcet’s Disease and Autonomic Neuropathy. These conditions cause severe pain and fatigue, and make everyday tasks, like showering, very difficult.
Making artwork provides Megan with an opportunity to distract herself from my pain, express what she’s going through, and to have a sense of purpose.
John Howitt

My paintings are conceived and executed with experimental color placement and layering, much as a musician forms a melody through improvisation. By printing this way, I can create harmony or disharmony…bright and concise with a rhythm that shouts at the viewer– something on key, something off key. To me, each printed mark I see as notes, leading to a finished composition.
Jamie Hoy (B. 1998) is an interdisciplinary fine artist examining work about gender, sexuality, and the complexities of life. She engages in a multitude of alternative processes, conveying the conceptual meaning behind each self-made work of art. With her knowledge of art history and photographic theory, Jamie is able to bring to life fine art compositions that can stand on their own.…
Judith Huacuja is a Latina painter creating socially expressive landscapes. Using acrylics, photography, and mixed media, her scenes depict human impacts on the environment.
Huacuja also creates views onto sacred geographies that positively shape human consciousness.
In her semi-abstract artwork, color and symbols narrate contemporary scenes both rural and urban. These places reach across the US, from the expansive Southwest into the river ways of the Midwest. Huacuja’s art has been shown in Houston, Santa Barbara, Dayton, and places in between.

I was born in Montana in 1945: at age 5 my folks returned to Yellow Springs, OH. Then at age 6 we moved to Saudi Arabia for three years, which began my travels all round the world. Since receiving my MFA in 1972 from Cal-Arts, followed by 2 years at a CA gold mine, I have been creating large-scale sculpture projects for public environments throughout the States and in 26 countries round the world — 24 throughout China alone.

Suzi Hyden is a cyanotype artist working in rural Champaign County, Ohio, whose work celebrates the environment by combining elements from nature and repurposed materials. She uses local botanicals to create her cyanotypes, commonly known as sun printing or blueprinting. She incorporates recycled vintage fabrics, reused papers, and found objects as the substrates and framing for her cyanotypes. She exhibits throughout Ohio and offers workshops to children and adults.
