The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
The Schnooks is an indie/alternative and experimental rock project from Batavia, Ohio, led by multi-instrumentalist Stephen Bernhard. While rooted in lo-fi, rock, pop, and electronic, The Schnooks’ catalog also stretches across funk, blues, comedy songs, meditation loops, and more—delivering raw, honest, and always original music. Some of Bernhard’s music is also being used in a clinical setting for the treatment of substance use disorder and anger management. Available on all major streaming platforms except Spotify.
Artist Statement
Music has always been constant in my life. It is my hyperfocus and my refuge. Thus, I play exactly what I want, without caring at all what is fashionable or trending in the moment. I am not beholden to an algorithm, and as a musician, I find that extremely liberating.
By doing my own thing, I have not only created art that helps me, but has also made a difference in others as well. Some of my music is successfully being used in a clinical setting to help those with substance use issues and anger management. Knowing that something that I had created has made a difference in somebody’s life is the greatest compliment that I could possibly receive.
This outcome would not have happened had I decided to just create the same generic, sterile music that social media has popularized.
