The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska a Master of Fine Art in Painting and Drawing from The Ohio State University. Since 1980, I’ve enjoyed a career as an arts administrator, primarily for the Columbus Museum of Art, where I served as the Executive Deputy Director of Operations and Chief Registrar. I’ve kept a studio practice and exhibited throughout the United States. My preferred media includes oil sticks, charcoal, and pastel, and, for printmaking, monotypes with oil sticks.
Artist Statement
I make work that is specifically based in the Midwest. I grew up with the idea of making art about the landscape that was around me, which has persisted to this day. The challenge becomes how to apply the paint and charcoal in interesting ways. I want to evoke memories of my youth, emotion, and excitement using the play of light and color. The paintings, charcoal, and pastel drawings use clouds, landscape, and still life as departure points. Because of my interest in surface, color, and composition, the work sometimes moves from the representational to abstraction. In this way I can achieve a new synthesis of representation that includes saturated color and attention to surface.
