The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

MKBRANDT ART & DESIGN – ARTIST BIO & Statement:

Michelle K. Brandt moved to Dayton from Phoenix AZ in 1977.  After raising a family & working in electrical supply and plumbing, she retired in 2022. Now with time, she concentrated on her artwork.  Michelle loves the bright colors you will find in her garden and it reflects in her artwork.

Working primarily in Acrylics and watercolors, on canvas & boards, she paints landscapes, cityscapes, botanicals, and pets, in a somewhat loose impressionistic style. With bold bright colors, and lots of layers, her paintings come alive with that energy.

With mentors and teachers, the late Cinnamon Cooney, and Ginger Cook, Michelle has learned not to be afraid to take a chance and try a new technique or medium.

She has resided in the Belmont neighborhood in Dayton OH for 40+ years.

A member of the Dayton Society of Artists, and The Tipp City Area Arts Council, she has exhibited and sold paintings in a variety of exhibitions.

Artist Statement

I have a great love of nature, especially flowers & animals. With my paintings I try to inspire love, happiness & wellbeing. I have always done some type of creative work. I try to put joy and happiness into every painting I do. I have a great love for bright happy colors that I see all around me, whether it be putting it on paper, canvas or even a rain barrel or flowerpot.

I am a self-taught artist, painting in primarily Acrylics and watercolors. I learned from years of doodling & crafting. I have always had a love for art, even as a young child. From with the kids when they were little, to gardening, sewing, cross-stitch and photography, and also singing in the church choir. When I retired in 2021, I decided to concentrate on painting. The flowers and birds in my garden are inspiring and I do a lot of studio work from photographs. Lately I have been doing more somewhat abstracted realism and impressionistic paintings, but regardless of the style, I try to put joy and happiness into every painting I do. I have a great love for bright happy colors that I see all around me, whether it be putting it on paper, canvas or even a rain barrel or flowerpot.

I moved to Dayton 40+ years ago and I love Dayton and the vibrant arts community here. I am a member of the Dayton Society of Artists and the Dayton Blues Society. I reside in the Belmont neighborhood of Dayton, OH.
