The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Growing up in Pennsylvania, Laurie spent much of her time in the woods and on the family farm. Whether experiencing the sweet aroma of fresh-cut clover and hay, the falling autumn leaves, a fantastic sunset over the distant field, or an incoming thunderstorm, the senses were filled no matter the season. White-tailed deer, cottontail rabbits, squirrels, ring-neck pheasant, killdeer, and the assortment of feathered friends and furry creatures were plentiful. A visit to the local zoo or a rescue excursion was never turned down. Trips “up north” to the PA Allegheny Mountains provided a deep woods experience and a wild variety of the outdoors to study. She would draw or paint with whatever materials were available, wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself. Following high school, Laurie studied commercial and fine art at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She was employed with a national card company for 20 years designing card art, gift wrap, party goods, and dimensional ornaments.
Today, Laurie has her own studio. She maintains a presence in the commercial art world, designing surface patterns for local and worldwide distribution. She also designs coins and medals for the US Mint. No time to be bored! However, her passion lies in wildlife and nature. Any time spent outside is not wasted. Laurie uses her own experiences and photographs for reference in her works. She believes using another person’s photo for her art is stealing the experience. Every drawing and painting you see is created and completely drawn by her hand. Some designs have over 300,000 strokes. Other have over 90 hrs. logged.
You may be surprised to know tools used to create these drawings are a stylus, an iPad, and the program Procreate. This allows endless mark-making opportunities. Whether it be watercolor, acrylics, gouache, pencil, pastels, charcoal, oils, or pen and ink, it’s all available at her fingertips. The finished drawings are then sent to a professional print house for museum-quality archival signed and numbered prints.
Laurie’s work can be found in retail stores, local exhibits, fairs, and private collections
across the country and across the seas.
Laurie has enjoyed spending time with each living creation,
studying the scenery, scribbling notes, and recording reference images in hopes that you will feel inspired to get outside, BE STILL, and enjoy God’s great creations.
