The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
JoAnn DePolo is an artist whose career encompasses various artistic expressions. Initially drawn to the intricacies of photography, she later transitioned to painting, where her unique vision blossomed. Recognized for her captivating cityscapes, serene waterscapes, and bold abstracts, her artwork has garnered international acclaim and graces the collections of renowned personalities like artist Peter Max, and former MLB player and artist Omar Vizquel.
Beyond the canvas, JoAnn champions the power of art within communities. Her expertise in community arts organization is highly sought-after, leading to positions on advisory committees for various non-profit organizations including the North Olmsted Ohio Arts Commission.
A passionate educator, JoAnn extends her artistic knowledge beyond her studio walls, conducting workshops and summer camps for libraries and schools. Her extensive teaching experience includes serving as a Master Teaching Artist, instructing young people and fostering public art projects.
JoAnn DePolo Studio & Gallery (JDSG), established in 2012, recently relocated to Westlake, Ohio. JDSG is renowned for its dynamic and original fine art, personalized painting instruction, and professional development.
Artist Statement
My artistic expression primarily resides in the realm of abstract art. Unconstrained by limitations, I find an unconventional approach to painting allows me to fully capture my unique perspective. Each day presents a dynamic array of contemporary themes that fuel my inspiration, prompting the creation of new abstract paintings.
In addition, the music composed by my sons, the DePolo twins, Jared and Andrew, serves as a profound source of inspiration. Their captivating orchestral pieces evoke a symphony of color, form, and depth, which I then translate onto canvas through the power of paint.
My artwork invites viewers to delve deeper, to seek meaning beyond the surface and engage with concepts that might otherwise go unnoticed. The process of creating abstract art is inherently invigorating, offering me a space to truly express my unique perspective in all its vibrancy.
