The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement
As a Designer/Art Jeweler and metalsmith, I am passionate about creating unique jewelry and objet d’art. I was introduced to jewelry making in high school, then on to work for my BFA and MA both with concentrations in jewelry/metalsmithing. In between those years; I apprenticed as a jeweler at a prestigious jewelry store in the city for 2 years; three summers working as a bench jeweler for a jewelry wholesaler; and 2.5 years repairing and upgrading antique jewelry for an independent business. After combining all those experiences, I began my own art jewelry business, and I still find the creation of a three-dimensional, tangible object of fine craft exciting! I choose a specific gemstone or pearl for its inspiration and create a piece of art by working directly with precious metals by bending, hammering, soldering, filing, gem setting and polishing. I have always work in this free style of fabrication, forming as freely as artists who work in clay or sketch with paper and pencil…excitedly working tiny pieces of metal into soft, sensuous forms of body adornment.
My Fabric series jewelry is more sculptural and includes Ribbon decorative elements in rings, earrings, necklaces, and my Fabric textured Crepe and Paisley bracelets. Their concept emerged as I was instructing an undergraduate metals course, emphasizing more dimension in designing, explaining sheet metal can be formed into so much more than a flat piece of jewelry. I began roll printing textures onto sterling from fabrics, inspired by memories from my mother’s lace collar on her favorite dress. Working with sterling as the main material for this series, my metalsmithing skills and fabrication techniques were invigorated using larger scaled metal, forming it into more bold statements of jewelry that has fresh sumptuous designs. After smithing each bracelet by hand, the clasp is then hammered shaped on both the ends forming an easy self-fitting closure for the wearer making the jewelry secure, easy to put on and take off yourself! Final touches can be the addition of color by plating, or with patinas, and perhaps a last addition of pearls, after the addition of a spray lacquer for tarnish resistance. The results are fresh, bold designs in a more sculptural body adornment, which now also include my kinetic Swimsuit Pin Series titled Women on the Move, creations of kinetic woman’s torso in bathing suits. Yet I feel both series continue to hold true to the core characteristics of all my jewelry as sleek, sensuous, and sophisticated…your personal statement for one-of- a- kind wearable art.
