Melting at the Thought of You

“If your love is heavy rainfall,

My biggest fear is hydroplaning.”

Digital Photograph double exposure + makeup art by Kameron Crow

The Sky is Crying

Mixed Media Canvas 28×32
A large scale piece depicting a scene where a rainbow sky melts and drips down through the colors of the rainbow, ambiguously depicting scenes of clouds, forests, mountains, and water. This piece was a breakthrough point for me when realizing my capabilities with painting larger than I had been and truly letting my inspiration take control. The colors spoke to me, the materials and order was meditative and healing. Each layer involves a level of looseness, loss of control, giving it up in order to gain some peace while trusting in the process that is motivating me.

Pisces Party

Mixed Media Sculpture on Canvas 28×32

Pisces Party is a play on “Pity Party” with the addition of my astrological sign to represent the difficulty that my birthday season gives me every year. Featured is a party hat with a balloon being held down by a pentacle weight and each pom-pom represents the Pisces constellation. The galaxy balloon is exploding and smoking with stars glittering from within.

Spiraling Pt 2. Into The Abyss

Acrylic + Marker on Canvas 12×12

Part of my “Chromatherapy” collection exploring the healing use of colors in art for trauma expression and acceptance. In this “spiraling” series, I explore my experience with spiraling thought loops and how these affect my life as an artist.

Spiraling Pt. 1 Chromatic Dissonance

This piece is a part of my collection titled “ChromaTherapy” and will feature alternate versions to compliment and contrast the idea. “Dissonance” is about the distractions that traumatized minds surround themselves with to avoid harsh reliving of their past. Sometimes, these distractions lead to self-sabotage, while other times they can allow us enough space to relax and begin to accept our emotions as they are. Both the colors and the spiraling nature of the design are a reminder to myself that there can be brilliance and joy in both order and chaos.

Black Hole

Recital Improvisations

Paintings featured from a recital featuring “The Abstrax Project”, a duo featuring myself and Lindsay Smithson, where live improvised saxophone music is played while I interpretively paint what I hear. This was the debut performance together for a Senior Recital at Ohio State University.

Blooming

Part of a Collection called “Scrapped Poetry” where I have used scraps of painting paper from my pallette, pairing it with embossed original poetry from a traditional label maker.

Original Poetry by Kameron Crow

“I keep trying to convince myself I’m over you
but every little mistake is your loaded rifle
pointed at my chest.
I can still feel you hundreds of miles away,
your skin feels like lies, you smell like forget-me-nots turned ashes
and my skin is a fire that I am extinguishing
constantly;
I am a soggy disappointment and
no one loves water as much as you,
but
you love the rain,
not me.”
