The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
I have been a Columbus resident for the last 30 years, having moved from California where I studied art and design at Long Beach State University. I started out as a printmaker, moving later into acrylic panting, and mixed media. My work leans toward abstract design other than realism because I think it can be more expressive and more forgiving. Although I appreciate the work of the Ashcan movement artists such as George Bellows and John Sloan, and some of the later 20th century realists, I prefer the work of pop artists such as Lichtenstein, Hockney and Burton Morris.
Artist Statement
I work in mixed media and found objects to make items that that are repurposed into something decorative or simply unusual. I’ve recently started to use the cardboard from old shipping boxes to cut and paste together classic guitar shapes painted in bright colors and using metal and wire to mirror the tuners, frets, and pick-ups to add texture and realism without hiding the fact that it is made of cardboard. I want the cardboard to show through and be recognizable because, I think, that’s the humble beauty of each piece.
