The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Sara Barnes
ArtistBio
Sara’s mixed media paintings are an exploration of their feelings and utilize a mix of words, doodles, and simplistic imagery. Various layers of different mediums add depth and complexity to the pieces. The colors and imagery used in their work ebb and flow with what’s happening in their life and the world around them. Sara’s ink doodles are primarily made as a means of relaxation and use a lot of nature inspired imagery. Sometimes pieces of these doodles will appear in larger mixed media pieces as collage.
Having started creating art as a child, Sara was drawn to art simply for the joy of creating. Later, they found that creating art helped them process emotions and cope with difficult events. After submitting some paintings to Indigo Hippo’s ReMADE in 2025, Sara developed a desire to put their art out there and explore being a professional artist.
Artist Statement
I make doodly mixed media art with lots of layers. It often features words, scribbles, and simple drawings. Many of my pieces start with loose abstract marks which I then refine into a finished piece. I often use pens, markers, watercolors, acrylics, and any other material that sparks my interest.
