The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Bio
I am a retired physician. My education had been in science and in healing, but when I worked, I enjoyed making art when I could. Now my art is my work, and I am happy to create. We are all many things, not just one thing. I can hardly say I am self taught because now there is so much knowledge readily available around us. I am not, however, formally trained in art. When people ask me what I do, I tell them I play. All the time.
Artist Statement
I create in paper mache and paper mache clay which I make myself, and I create also out of different kinds of clay. And wood. And glass. And whatever catches my eye. I paint on canvas and wood and on my sculptures and anything else I can find. I have started painting shoes. My creations are without a doubt whimsical and full of color. And for now, as am I, they are joyful, happy, thankful, blessed creations which are presented from the depths of my being. When I “work” on them, I might forget to eat. Or clean. And that isn’t a bad thing.
