The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement

My name is Mireya Campos, I was born to be an artist, raised surrounded with loving people who encouraged me to pursue art in many forms. I cultivate multidisciplinary arts since my childhood through dance, visual arts, language, and food. I use oils, acrylics, fabrics, and interesting objects.

My inspiration is my own pain, traveling experiences, my Latin roots, my son, and Frida Kahlo of course.  Love, discipline, persistence, and resilience are my tools to create art.

My art work is based on personal experiences. I have  been influenced by masters of visual arts, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo,  and Salvador Dali. The styles ranges from abstract, expressionism to modern realism. The inspirations comes from my Mexican heritage, dance, and global culture “I am inspired by strong emotions and love for life”  I show my passion for art in each brushstroke, layer, and texture on every piece. My motivation is life itself, introspection of deep feelings. I use oil painting, acrylics, mixed media, fabrics and jewelry. The art Collection “Never Stop Moving” resumes my dance career with visual arts. All elements makes an amalgam adding texture and color. The Collection “Windows of the Soul” has a strong influence by Frida Kahlo and Dali. This is a recollection of memories, emotions, love and loss. Shadowbox live has been my art home for 7 years, with shows as Tribute to the Beatles, Bonnie & Clyde, and Flower Power. The new series “Cityscapes” is a collaboration work with my son Jorge Vales. For instance, creating portraits of my muse Frida Kahlo brings the best of me.

I will continue creating art as long as I breath,

Maye.
