The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement
My art work is based on personal experiences. Thave been influenced by masters of visual arts, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Alfaro, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Jackson Pollock. The styles ranges from abstract, expressionism to modern realism. My inspirations comes from my Mexican heritage, dance, and global culture “I am inspired by strong emotions and love for life” There is a lot of passion in each brushstroke, layer, and texture on every piece. My motivation for painting is the need to express and explore deep feelings. I like to use mixed media, fabrics and jewelry. “Never Stop Moving” bounds my dance career with visual arts. All elements makes an amalgam adding texture and color. The Collection “Windows of the Soul” has a strong influence by Frida Kahlo and Dali. This is a recollection of memories, emotions, love and loss. Shadowbox live has been my art home for 7 years, with shows as Tribute to the Beatles, Bonnie & Clyde, and Flower Power. The new series “Cityscapes” is a collaboration work with my son Jorge Vales.
I will continue creating art as long as I breath, Maye.
