The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Mia Mondora is a fine artist, educator, curator, and muralist based in Youngstown, Ohio. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from Youngstown State University. Her practice spans surreal and emotionally driven portraiture that invites viewers into symbolic, dreamlike worlds. Mia’s work has been exhibited throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and West Virginia.

She is the co-owner of Color Ready LTD, a mural arts company she runs alongside her fiancé and fellow artist. Together, they have completed public art projects for institutions such as Case Western Reserve University, Youngstown CityScape, and several local businesses.

In addition to her studio and mural work, Mia teaches through SMARTS (Students Motivated by the Arts) and serves as Art Coordinator and Gallery Curator for Fire Lights Festival in Sherman, NY. She also curates and paints live at festivals like Ramble and Karnival of the Arts, where she brings community-centered, experiential art to vibrant outdoor settings.

Artist Statement

My work explores the emotional undercurrents of memory, nature, and transformation. I create surreal portraits and figurative scenes that act as visual poems—meditations on grief, nostalgia, and the desire for connection. Through layered imagery, symbolic elements, and dreamlike environments, I invite viewers into spaces where the boundaries between human and nature, reality and fantasy, are blurred.

I’m deeply inspired by the natural world as both a mirror and a refuge for human emotion. Plants, animals, and organic motifs appear as recurring symbols—silent witnesses to the internal landscapes I seek to express. In recent years, my practice has expanded into large-scale murals and live painting experiences, which offer opportunities to bring this deeply personal imagery into shared public spaces.

Ultimately, I see my art as a way to connect—with others, with the earth, and with what’s buried just below the surface of memory.
