The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Professor Miller has been with the University of Mount Union since 2004. She is an Associate Professor and the Dr. Robert T. and Phyllis S. White Endowed Chair in Art.  While at Mount Union she’s been awarded two sabbaticals the most recent Spring of 2020. During both sabbaticals her concentration was furthering her scholarly research in creating paintings.  During Fall of 2021, Professor Miller was awarded a grant to continue the second sabbatical professional body of work. She received yet another honor by having one of the sabbatical paintings accepted into the 2021 Butler Midyear a nationally recognized exhibit held at the Butler Museum of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.

As Professor of Art for multiple decades Professor Miller brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. “My goal in the classroom is to first establish a sense of trust with the students”. “Having a relaxed atmosphere to relieve tensions, and inhibitions”. “During my classes students immediately get involved the act of making art – kind of like jumping in cold lake water”. “Giving students am immediate sense of control, freedom to express, and instills confidence that ‘yes they can’ achieve their goals

Artist Statement

My work has explored a wide range of subjects, mediums and dimensions. I have a love for both two dimensional and three dimensional work. Painting has been a longtime passion that I’ve explored observation, visualization, and automatism in a range of naturalistic to abstract imagery. Landscapes both realistic and abstract have been a longtime subject. Additionally, animals specifically horses have a frequency with work because of a lifetime connection. Probably the deepest consistently that embodies my overall work is maintaining an edgy sense of incompletion, basically not spelling out the story.
