The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Jon is an award-winning cinematic and metal composer/producer based in Ohio. He specializes in epic, cinematic walls of noise for use in trailers as well as softer, intimate textures for films and other visual media.

Jon has composed for a multitude of short films, one of them being Drown which won Best Original Score at Midwest Slam Fest, and Hit & Split which won Best Film at the Richmond 48 Hour Film Festival (and went on to compete at the international level in Lisbon, Portugal). He also writes trailer music for the Hypersonic Music Label of Universal Production Music for use in promos, trailers, ads, and TV spots. His music has been featured on FX, CBS News, ESPN Sports, FOX Business, and Discovery.

In 2022, Jon was selected was one of the Auditors for the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive where he studied conducting and composition/orchestration under the instruction of Conrad Pope, William Ross, and Angel Velez. In 2023, Jon was chosen as one of the Auditors for the inaugural Joy Music House Score Production Workshop, studying Score Production under the instruction of Catherine Joy. He has also sought out mentors on the subjects of sync licensing and music marketing to expand his reach and network. In early 2024, Jon was one of the recipients of the Artists With Disabilities Access Program Grant by the Ohio Arts Council to help fund his cinematic metal project Bioluminescent Soundwaves. Here, he would work with a variety of musicians from the cinematic and metal fields of the music industry to bring the project to fruition.

Jon draws inspiration from a variety of sources—his favorite composers being Thomas Bergersen, John Powell and Hans Zimmer, while his favorite metal musicians being Devin Townsend, Ice Nine Kills, and Darko US. He is able to take these sources of inspiration and combine them with his own musical voice to create unique and exciting musical textures to express obscure images and emotions.

Artist Statement

I write music to inspire those who want to bring to life images and emotions that once vanished into time, to give soul and color to every new day.
