The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Joe Ott grew up in Northeast Ohio and currently lives in West Akron. His passion for nature started at a young age. Inspired by his time in nature and hiking with his dogs, River and Vinny, he creates pieces that push creative boundaries of what is possible with the mediums he uses.
As a self-taught multimedia artist, Joe specials in wood, chainsaw, and metal sculptures. He also dabbles in watercolor, wood-burning, woodworking, and acrylic paint.
He previously worked full-time at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens as the Director of Facilities & Maintenance, where he also used his artistic talents to create exhibits throughout the Estate. Most notable, two permanent garden sculptures and the 2019 Fused exhibit.
Joe has also created pieces for breweries in Ohio, museum art installations, and individual commissioned artwork for private buyers.
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the Lucius Annaeus Seneca quote “All art is but imitation of nature”, which informs my nature based artwork. My work combines my passion for the natural world with my affection for creating. I believe mother nature is the ultimate creator and I strive to honor her within my work through mediums like metal, wood, and painting. I fuse my practical mechanical knowledge with strong, durable and timeless one of a kind sculptures and paintings.
