The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Jeanie Coy Auseon has made art in one way or another throughout her life. An undergraduate degree in Art Education and a masters degree in Education from Truman State University, as well as a Ph.D in Art Education from the Ohio State University, plus formal studies in Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design, and Surface Design inform her artistic-thinking and art-making.

After an award-winning career as an art educator, she “came home” in retirement to the joy of personal art-making. After extensive experimentation in 2-D media, the images in her artworks have evolved from figurative to abstract images. Her works hang in private collections across the US, and in public collections (i.e., Springfield OH Regional Medical Center, Columbus, OH Short North Hilton Hotel, Greater Columbus Convention Center, and the Louisville, KY, district PNC Bank office).

Artist Statement

I am inspired by the unexpected and complex images that emerge from layering media/images. Such interactions free me from the intent to produce literal images. My art is intuitive, process-driven, and labor intensive. Unorthodox explorations with media and techniques, often new to me, provide endless compositions. Art-making challenges me to stretch my boundaries. I pleases me that artworks can have multiple meanings as viewers engage with each piece. Some of my most contented days are ones in which I have created art in one form or another.
