The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Dr. Hyacinth Paul is a retired scientist and Professor who started her career as an artist later in life. Her art works are both abstract and realistic; mostly done in oil’s, acrylics, mixed media and fabric. Her paintings are very colorful because she believes color sparks synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feelings of joy. Her paintings done in the old master’s technique are done over several weeks; while her abstract art works are opinions and thoughts she is trying to communicate through her colorful canvas. She completed over 58 works in the 58th year of her life and currently has grown her collection. She has over forty solo/group exhibitions since 2018. She has entered juried shows as of Sep 2019 and was accepted into quite a few and walked away with a first place, several sales and honorable mentions. Her paintings have been exhibited in many states around the country. She currently showcases her work in Dayton and has a significant online presence. She was awarded a grant to study Plein Aire painting at Provence and Barcelona by the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District. She served as an Artist in Residence at the Trotwood School District funded by the TeachArtsOhio of the Ohio Arts Council. She started a non-profit organization called Dayton for the Arts. Artist Statement
My art is a visceral response to the world around me—a dance of color, emotion, and intuition. Self-taught and guided by instinct, I embrace a wide range of mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, mixed media, and more recently, fabric. My works are vibrant, textured, and often exude a sense of reckless abandon, balancing spontaneity with thoughtful expression.
While I began with a love for realism, my evolving collections naturally lean into abstraction—each piece born from a moment, a memory, or a deeply felt reaction to life. I am especially drawn to color as both a visual and emotional language. Through bold contrasts, layered glazes, and nuanced tonal shifts, I aim to evoke joy, curiosity, and connection. I am fascinated by the psychological and physiological impact of color, and my creative journey seeks to explore how color can influence and reflect our inner worlds.
Ultimately, I hope my work stirs something in the viewer—inviting reflection, emotion, and a deeper appreciation for the unseen and the unknown. I create to spark wonder, dialogue, and a shared reverence for the beauty and complexity of existence.
