The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Woman, The Nature of Being
For the Ancient Greeks nature and mankind were intricately bound. Many of their myths stress the need for humans to treat nature with respect and humility.
Born and raised in the shadow of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, Evangelia follows the ancient traditions of her ancestors. In nature’s simplicity she finds order, whimsy, joy and an assurance of life’s continuance in the never-ending cycles of day and night, season to season, and the steady ebb and flow from year to year. In the company of nature and its non-human inhabitants Evangelia has found solace, peace and laughter which helps her navigate life’s complications as she uses these lessons for her artistic inspiration.
A daughter of the ancient goddesses, mythical female heroes and familial Earth Mothers, Evangelia weaves together the feminine caring nature of the women who surrounded her as a child, fired her imagination and inspired her to seek the unconditional love and majesty of the natural world which like women is at once quiet but also will not be silenced.
Involved in wildlife rescues and conservation organizations, Evangelia draws on the life which surrounds her and the animals she meets which inspire her to create.
Beyond the fun aspects and antics with which wildlife entertains her she is moved to make her audience aware of man’s often destructive influences on habitat and aspires to subtly make the viewer aware of what we are risking but also offering hope that we will continue to grow as responsible caretakers of this magical blue planet and find balance within ourselves and the world we inhabit.
In a career which spans over 40 years Evangelia has been an award-winning editorial illustrator working with major national newspapers, and book cover illustrator for nationally recognized publishing houses. She is an educator at the Columbus College of Art and Design and nationally respected fine artist.
Artist Statement
Since the time of Homer, the Greeks have been master storytellers. They created images in the listeners’ mind and depicted them on classical pottery. In the best tradition of my ancestors, I am a storyteller as well. My stories, however, are not about mythical heroes and Olympian gods, they depict modern man. As an editorial features illustrator for The Columbus Dispatch, I spent the 22 years presenting visual stories of humanity and hubris, technology and spirituality, passion and pathos. Now as a fine artist, through images that reflect both my Greek heritage and modern influences, I strive to bring visual life to the to contemporary issues to my audience – to be moved, be amused, provoked, or simply to stop and reflect.
