The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Originally from the Ohio Valley, Edith moved to Central Ohio for a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otterbein University in Theatre Design and Technology. She has worked in theatre here ever since as a set designer and scenic artist in schools, universities and professional theatres. About 8 years ago, she decided to get further training in the studio arts. She studied for two years at Cooley Studios, a local atelier, in Worthington, Ohio. She has workshopped and studied with artists such as Suzanne Accetta, Sandy Reddig and Tony Curanaj as well as taken advantage of many workshops and conventions offered during the pandemic, including Plein Air Live, Realism Live and Vision X.

Artist Statement

Edith describes herself as a “painter of big and small things” in both subject and scope. She has painted large sets and backdrops for operas, ballets, plays, musicals and small, calm still lifes in her studio. As a theatre artist for two decades, she has told stories of heroism, myth and exuberance and works now to translate this into a blossoming studio practice, both in translatable skills and spirit. Inspiration, design, and storytelling are the first exciting steps of a painting, but the focused training, practice, and careful drawing are what keeps her in the studio day after day.
