The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Daniel J. King is a visual artist and educator with a professional career encompassing administration, marketing, communications, website management, and teaching in and around the arts for over 15 years. Early career roles include serving as photographer and graphic designer with major retail, publishing, and ad agency companies, as well as in public affairs with the United States Air Force.
From a formal education in photographic studio arts to his embrace of quotidian everyday actions (like the commute, looking down, and day-dreaming with found photos), his artistic practice takes the form of print and digital photographs and moving images (film, video, expanded cinema), books, sculptural objects, interactive mail-art projects and writing.
Daniel has exhibited photographic projects nationally and around the midwest region, and screened short experimental video projects nationally and internationally.
TEACHING
Daniel completed his BFA in Media Arts (photography) at the Columbus College of Art & Design in 2001, and an MFA in Photography + Integrated Media from the School of Art + Design at Ohio University in 2015. He has been teaching college level photography and studio arts courses at Ohio University, Columbus College of Art & Design, and Columbus State Community College on and off since 2009. King has also lead a range of creative workshops in venues around the region, from youth movie making camps, to podcasting for teens, cyanotypes, pinhole cameras, to creative writing on photography for veterans and more.
Artist Statement
Daniel J. King is an artist concerned with lens-based questions of how images sit within larger thoughts about
place, time, history, and memory. In still and moving images, texts, artist books, installations, and objects, his
work deals with everyday things, places, and surfaces that go unnoticed underfoot in our built environments. His
films and videos have screened in festivals across the US and internationally, and his photographic prints and
objects make their way into the world from time to time.
