The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

I am an artist and architect living in Columbus Ohio. Creativity and making things have been essential throughout my life, starting with shadowing my father in his woodshop when I was very young.  As I watched him build beautiful things from scratch he instilled in me the joy of being creative and working with my hands. As an independent architect I have enjoyed the process of providing design solutions for clients to address their needs and wishes for their homes and places of work.  I listen and strive to find perfect solutions, in the function, form, flow, light, and play of textures and colors.  The practice of architecture is, appropriately, very structured to serve the client while the pursuit of art allows me to explore concepts and ideas that come from my heart, with no boundaries.

Artist Statement

While I continue to develop ideas, materials, and methods, with my current artwork I explore how the perception of ordinary objects change when placed in unexpected contexts. By removing these objects from their usual environments, I reveal how the everyday can transform into something extraordinary. I take photos of familiar elements from our surroundings then craft new compositions that do not exist in nature, blending and layering the images to give life to something unexpected.

Through this process, the essence of each object is preserved, yet their individual components fuse to create a fresh,  composite, whole. This fusion highlights their most captivating features, offering a new perspective that is both familiar and novel.

I want my work to capture the viewer’s attention and disrupt conventional ways of seeing. By challenging our assumptions and offering a fresh visual experience, I invite the audience to join me on this journey where we can reconsider reality and discover beauty in the unexpected.
