The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Ching is a visual and digital artist creating bright, joyful, and whimsical designs that spark imagination and meaning. Her work draws from a wide spectrum of influences—travel, observation, design thinking, memory, and personal storytelling—all seen through a vibrant and curious lens.

Born in Brunei and raised in Ohio, Ching’s perspective is shaped by her experience as an Asian immigrant and the creative legacy of her mother, a full-time seamstress. While her cultural background informs her love of fabric, color, and storytelling, not all of her work is rooted in tradition—her practice is equally driven by a playful sense of wonder and the expressive potential of everyday moments.

Ching earned her Industrial Design degree from The Ohio State University, where she learned to design with human experience in mind—how we move through spaces, connect with beauty, and find meaning in small details. Her professional background in boutique retail and aviation design honed her eye for narrative, form, and function—all of which now flow into her surface design, illustration, and public art projects.

Through bold color, organic form, and expressive lettering, Ching’s art seeks to uplift, connect, and invite a moment of joy.

Artist Statement

My creative practice explores the intersection of color, form, and storytelling to create uplifting visual experiences. Whether working in surface pattern design, digital illustration, or public art, I aim to make work that feels like a joyful moment of found connection—playful, warm, and deeply human.

Inspired by travel, everyday life, and the ever-evolving world around me, I draw from a wide range of influences—filtered through my unique lens as a designer, observer, and Asian immigrant raised in Ohio. My cultural roots, creative education, and experiences moving through different spaces all shape the way I see and interpret the world. While some of my work is inspired by tradition, much of it is simply an intuitive response to imagination, curiosity, and wonder.

With a background in industrial design, I bring a sensitivity to scale, space, and storytelling. I combine expressive lettering, organic forms, and vibrant palettes to spark joy and meaning—honoring both the personal and the universal in the creative process.
