Bio
Born in Kansas, resided in California and Maui and now happily in Columbus, Cee has always been interested in the meaning of Existence and the interconnectedness of all things. Among other activities Cee has been a farmer, Hospice spiritual caregiver, and written two books about Consciousness. She has produced hundreds of paintings and sculptures and is currently creating etherial room installations. She received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, an MFA from Mills College in Oakland and was granted the Jay Defeo award.
Artist Statement
I am fascinated by the apparent line between spirit and matter. My recent installation work resembles embryonic and cocoon forms. These “etherial flotoids” hover in space between the weightiness of fleshy existence and transcendence of mind and matter. They are made of tree branches, cellulose skin, fishing lures and iridescent threads. All my work aims to evoke the mystery of existence.
