The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Carol Bridwell has been interested in the fiber and textile mediums since first crocheting with her Grandmother at the age of 6. 40 years ago she got her first loom and taught herself the techniques you see today in her woven works. Carol worked at this as a hobby while working full time, and upon retiring from AK Steel began selling her art as Phoenix Rising, later to be Carol Bridwell Art.
In her woven pieces, you will see both traditional and original patterns, making use of color, texture and print. Her pieces are both artistic and utilitarian, and make use of a wide variety of colors and designs. Her rugs are also a way to bring a new purpose to materials as she utilizes the fabric in mill ends for her work.
Additionally, Carol branched into woodworking, with her main focus being wood animal silhouettes. What started as one simple pig has manifested into a menagerie of goats, dogs, horses, pigs, roosters and more. Her woodworking also expands into home décor, to include furniture, trays, and boxes.
Carol has won awards for her work at the Y-Bridge Arts Festival (Zanesville), Art on the Square (Caldwell), and the Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival (Cambridge). Carol was also named a 2024 Muskingum County Woman of Achievement.
Carol along with her daughters operates the Elk’s Eye Art Market in Zanesville. The art market features more than 30 artists and artisans from Muskingum and surrounding counties in the former Elks Lodge which she restored.
Carol resides in New Concord, Ohio, with her husband Randy, and dog Clyde.
