The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bonny Shilton
ShiltonArt.comBio
Bonny Shilton is an abstract artist based in Trumbull County whose work explores energy, emotion, and the human spirit.
Her paintings capture a feeling, and invite viewers to find their own personal connections to that feeling.
Bonny draws inspiration from Abstract Expressionism and Asian brush painting. Both capture the energetic essence of a subject, and the artist’s inner energy, and transfer those energies to the painting,
Because she believes that good composition is essential, she has made an extensive study of the subject. She uses techniques including layering, transparent glazes, spontaneous brushstrokes, and the strategic use of negative space to create depth, movement and texture.
Her work is also influenced by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi which finds beauty in imperfection and natural change.
Bonny has painted a wide variety of subjects, including landscape murals in shops and restaurants, multiple subject portraits, and a display for the James Monroe Museum.
During the pandemic, she focused on abstract painting and studied it through classes and studio work.
Today she paints large abstract paintings, nature settings, and Asian-inspired brush and ink pieces. She’s also working on her Chiclets collection, inspired in part by her passion for interior design.
Bonny’s work has been featured in Trumbull Art Gallery and Canvas Rebel magazine.
