The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
Anne Balogh is a painter, muralist, and environmental educator who lives in Licking County (Central Ohio). Art and conservation (biology) have always been her main interests. In her youth, science was thought to be a more stable career than art, and she pursued a BS in environmental science from Allegheny College with a minor in studio art. She spent the next decade working as a field biologist and environmental educator throughout the USA, from leading ecotours in the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park, to studying urban birds in Washington DC, to counting migrating raptors in Duluth MN (to name a few). She also earned a MS in biology from Towson University with a focus on ecology and birds. However art, primarily in the form of painting, remained a strong thread throughout her life.
She now lives in Licking County and works for a park district while also pursuing her passion for watercolor, murals, and illustration.
Artist Statement
I am a versatile artist that can work in varied media and styles for commission work, from murals to watercolor portraits. In my mural work, I will take commissions and work with the client to achieve the best fit for their site. I love working large scale, and in 2023 challenged myself to do one exterior mural. I have since completed 5 and am looking for new opportunities to bring beauty to public spaces.
My favorite medium for non mural work is watercolor for its luminosity and expressionism. Watercolor is known as a difficult medium, as one must learn to let the paint do what it wants to some extent, but I love the exciting things that can happen almost outside of your control! I enjoy trying to capture a subjects personality, and focus a lot on the eyes, which I feel is the key.
My personal, professional, and artistic life is driven by a profound belief in the importance of conservation and the urgent need to reconnect people to the natural world. As an artist whose personal work is deeply rooted in the observation of nature, I am inspired by the intricate beauty and delicate balance of the ecosystems that surround us. I believe art has a unique ability to bridge the gap between people and the environment. In a time when many are disconnected from the natural world, art creates an opportunity to create a shared space for dialogue and awareness.
