The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement

I am fascinated with pairing textures and colors in unconventional ways. This is true for my paintings and my wearable art creations. Using a panel base, I build the painting surface with layers of Pouring Medium embedded with unique materials, such as glitter, mica, washi, and holographic/metallic foils. These layers also include areas of paint that I apply with my fingers or in puddles, allowing the material to drip and evaporate in unpredictable ways. These dense layers hover above each other with an effect similar to glass or resin, then I incorporate detailed narrative images. The narratives explore tension/anxiety, obsession, humor, and transformation. My subject matter is influenced by the natural world, environmental concerns, dreams, and personal experiences.

My wearable art creations use upcycled and found materials to layer opaque and transparent textiles to create new visual and tactile textures. I repeatedly return to “Crazy Quilts” as a source of inspiration. These vibrant, decorative items were created by woman using irregular, haphazard scraps of luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet and satin, then embellished with embroidered stitching. They were heavily inspired by the beauty of Asian textiles and aesthetics during a time of intense progress, something I relate to in today’s fast paced, AI driven world.
