**Available for Purchase – $9,800**
Abstract Textures 3.4 continues the spiral design form in larger repeats than found in the earlier pieces of this series. The whole cloth construction with hand applied dyes from condiment bottles and foam brush strokes for the backward “Zs”, created the ground for the artwork. Medium tones of yellow, fuchsia, purple, turquoise, brown, and muted black are the predominant colors until viewed more closely, and then small areas of olive, chartreuse, and a golden yellow appear.

As I review my notes on the Abstract Textures 2… and 3… series in 2024, I realize that the ground textiles for all eight of these were dye painted three months before my father died of Lewy Body Dementia in 2014. The stress and mental anguish I experienced then is very much reflected in the harsh dye application and frantic designs. The spiral textural design I had put on each piece in 2014 and have hand stitched years later, reflects the uncontrolled whirlwind I felt I was in at the time and now am reliving again with different family members.

Dense hand stitching of spring green, dark purple, yellow, brown, blue, and three shades of orange threads provide visual and physical texture as well as shadowing effects. White thread creates the abstract turbulence in each stitched spiral.

Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, which increases the display options for this work. Merging this artwork with any or all the pieces in this series, creates a dynamic contemporary artwork with unlimited shape and size installation possibilities.

Art Deco #3

Art Deco #3 – 27.5″ x 36.75″ (70 x 93cm)

Hand Stitched Thread on Textile
**Available for Purchase – $9,750**

This is the third piece in the Art Deco series which began in 2009 based on the art deco influence from 1910 to 1939. Commercial and batik fabrics are utilized to create the central art deco design. The design transferred to the edges of the piece from the center design with dense hand stitching imitating the constructed design using nine different thread colors. A visually tactile art work; viewers want to move closer to see all the stitched details and find it hard to resist reaching out to touch and feel it when experiencing the work.

The artwork is designed to be shown in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which gives the work a dynamic and new appearance with each change in display.

Diamond #5: Binding What Matters

Diamond #5: Binding What Matters (21.5” x 46”/ 54 x 117cm)
(c) 2021-2023 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York

**Available for Purchase – $9,600**

The 5th piece in the Diamond series features 60-degree diamonds that were formed from the leftover pieces of binding from eleven (11) artworks completed between 1998 and 2021. Binding is the narrow “framing” done on my textile artworks that is like a narrow frame around a painting. The shape of the artwork itself is also a 60-degree diamond although the pointed two ends have been removed. Three other fabrics encase the center panel of leftover binding pieces. It creates bold and dynamic display options when shown in the different orientations.

A close-up view of the front of the work shows the shadow play and texture created by the stitching using eight (8) different thread colors. Studying the back of the artwork shows the extensive stitching detail at its best.

Marbled Windows #1

**Available for Purchase – $11,500**

The Marbled Windows series was conceived in January of 2023, when I pulled out the eight panels from 2017 of my first experimentations with marble dyeing using prepared for dyeing (PFD) fabric and Proxion dye exclusively for my own artwork. Marbled Windows #1 is the first of three wall artworks using three of these marbled experimentation panels as the focus.

The densely hand stitched design, using white and pink threads, was created using the geared drawing tool, Wild Gears. An image of the back of the artwork and a close-up of the textural stitching shows the extent of the meticulous hand workmanship done without a machine. See the Aged Psychedelic series, created in 2019-2022, which was my experimentation of marbling fabric using airbrush paint and my first use of the Wild Gears tools.

Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation. A brief video about the artwork can be viewed on my YouTube channel or by going to the Video page of my website.

Prairie Leaf #2

Prairie Leaf #2 – (16” x 43” / 40.5 x 109cm)
(c) 2023 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York
Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Textile
**Available for Purchase – $8,500**

Prairie Leaf #2 is the second piece in a series that was inspired by a trip to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in July of 2021, and a visit to a 20-acre restoration prairie filled with plants and wildflowers. I harvested some of the leaves there that intrigued me and used the Compass plant leaf and prairie dock leaf for this piece. In late September of 2023 I harvested some dry flower stems from our own small wildflower restoration field to incorporate into this new piece. The leaves and flower stems are recreated here in actual size with hand stitching. I then used a 1/16-inch echo stitch design to give the piece a three-dimensional look. The spring green ground is one of my hand dyed pieces.
The detail image of the back of the artwork shows the extensive stitching at its best. A close-up image of the front of the work shows the ebb and flow of the hand dyed cloth and the shadow play created by the stitching. Once again, the artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.

Rusted Lace #8

Rusted Lace #8 (32.375” x 43”/82 x 109cm)
(c) 2020-2024 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York
Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Rust Pigmented Textile
**Available for Purchase – $17,250**

Rusted Lace #8 is the continuation of the ongoing Rusted Lace series. The ground is a whole cloth textile that has been hand dyed using turquoise, fuchsia and yellow dyes in varying levels of intensity to create a smoky chartreuse. Examining the piece from a distance and closely reveals arcs, rays, crystal, and ice-like shapes resulting from the dyeing process.

Scientific iron filings and butcher paper were used to rust the custom design onto the ground creating many different shapes and images. Dense hand stitching echoing the rusted design, creates the auxiliary design, shadow and light play across the artwork using golden yellow and teal colored thread in the background and rust colored thread on the rusted design.

The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.

Sound Waves #8: Flowing

Sound Waves #8: Flowing – (18″ x 43″ / 46 x 109cm)
(c) 2019-2023 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York
Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Textile
**Available for Purchase – $6,200**

Sound Waves #8: Flowing is moving away from the static graphic lines earlier in the series and morphing into abstract pools and splotches of color. Now the sound waves are flowing in tight mechanical waves like isobars shown on a weather map depicting wind speeds. Turquoise, yellow, and fuchsia are the dominating colors in this piece with subtle nuances of truffle brown and pink. Undulating waves and tight isobars of hand stitched thread in Sangria red and Chartreuse, create interesting shadows and light play across the artwork.

The image showing the back of the artwork highlights the extensive, detailed stitching. A close-up image of the front of the work shows the abstracted images that flow out of the color from the dye interactions with the fabric and the shadow/light play created by the stitching. The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which gives the work a new appearance with each change in display.

Sound Waves #9: Yellow Blue Red

Sound Waves #9: Yellow, Blue & Red – 18″ x 43″ (46 x 109cm)

**Available for Purchase – $8,200**

Sound Waves #9: Yellow, Blue & Red is continuing to move away from the static graphic lines earlier in the series and morphing into abstract pools and splotches of color. The color references in the title refer to the different colors of “noise”. Blue noise is said to enhance focus and concentration while red noise is the annoying hissing sound we hear coming from our computers, television and radios. Yellow noise resembles the sound of steady rain or a flowing stream and enhances our focus and cognitive function. Turquoise, yellow, and fuchsia are the dominating colors in this piece with subtle nuances of mint green and areas left white. Undulating waves and tight isobars of hand stitched thread in black, blue, yellow, pink, white, and green blue create interesting shadows and light play across the artwork.

The image of the back of the artwork highlights the extensive, detailed stitching. A close-up image of the front of the work shows the abstracted images that flow out of the color from the dye interactions with the fabric and the shadow/light play created by the stitching. The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which gives the work a dynamic and new appearance with each change in display.

Stained Glass Mosaic #5

Stained Glass Mosaic #5 (19.5” x 19.75”/49 x 49.5cm)
(c) 2023-2024 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York
Hand Stitched Thread on Textile
**Available for Purchase – $3,700**

Stained Glass Mosaic #5 is the fifth piece in the series. The series started in 2006 with the first four pieces being completed by mid-2008. Two of the artworks in the series sold immediately. In December of 2023 I carved out some time to begin working on two new pieces using similar fabric to #2-#4. The process of designing the division of the textile with the black leading, which is hand appliqued to the surface textile, is the most creative part for me as an artist. This design ends up dictating how the intricate hand stitching will be completed in the most labor-intensive part of my process.

The detail image of the back of the artwork as well as the close-up image shows the extensive stitching at its best along with the flow of colors across the textile. This artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.
