Hand Stitched Thread on Textile
**Available for Purchase – $14,000**
The fourth piece in this series is constructed from the leftover scraps from the framing (binding) of artworks from 1998 through 2020. Pieced strips of scraps are cut into 60º diamond shapes and laid out with in a grid format with cream and gold oriental fabric. This artwork is heavily hand stitched in different directions in alternating diamonds to add visual and physical texture. It can be exhibited in several different orientations, with the vertical orientation (41” x 76”/104 x 193cm) being the most dramatic and compelling. A contemporary artwork that melds well into most environments, makes it a versatile piece.

Hand Stitched Thread on Dye Painted Textile
**Available for Purchase – $8,600**
Abstract Textures 3.1 continues the undulating spiral and wave forms found in the earlier pieces of this series. Whole cloth construction with hand applied dyes from condiment bottles, created the ground for the artwork. Bright tones of yellow, fuchsia, truffle brown, turquoise, and black are the predominant colors until viewed more closely, and then small areas of olive, chartreuse, orange, and purple appear.
Dense hand stitching of spring green and blue-violet threads provides visual and physical texture as well as shadowing effects. Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, which increases the display options for this work. Merging this artwork with any or all, of the pieces in the series, creates a dynamic contemporary artwork with unlimited shape and size installation possibilities.

Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Marbled Textile
**Available for Purchase – $2,300**
Aged Psychedelic #9 continues my exploration of using the geared drawing tool, Wild Gears, for creating my hand stitched designs directly onto the artwork. The airbrush paint colorations highlight orange, yellow, brown, and a bit of blue and green. Up close inspection reveals delicate changes in color in the marbled ground. The hand stitched design includes radiating lines from the center design outward and contains a secondary basket form.
The Aged Psychedelic series is the starting point of my exploration of transferring the marbling process to textiles. This series of ten pieces uses airbrush paint as the dye to create the marbled surface design. I have found that the heaviness of the airbrush paint changes the hand of the textile ground and makes my signature dense hand stitching more difficult to achieve.
This piece is designed to be displayed in a horizontal or vertical orientation. These experimental pieces are smaller and will be spectacular paired up with several of the other pieces in this series for a collage-type display.

Hand Stitched Thread on hand dyed rust pigmented textile
**Available for Purchase – $7,700**
Shield is one of the early experimentations with transferring antique architectural ironwork onto textiles. I used old ironwork pieces from a fence found at an architectural store in Minneapolis, Minnesota to create the rusted image onto the grey hand dyed background. The dense hand stitched design done in grey blue, rust, and light grey thread radiates out from the five images and brings them all together.
Examining the artwork up close reveals the ebb and flow of the hand dyed cloth and the shadow play and contouring created by the hand stitching.
The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.

**Available for Purchase – $7,500**
Prairie Leaf #1 is the first in a new series that was inspired by a trip to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and a visit to a 20-acre restoration prairie filled with plants and wildflowers. I harvested some of the leaves that intrigued me and used the Compass plant leaf for this piece. The leaf is recreated here in actual size with hand stitching. I then used a 1/16-inch echo stitch design to give the piece a three-dimensional look. The green and rust ground is one of my hand dyed pieces.
The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.

Hand Stitched Thread on Dye Painted Textile
**Available for Purchase – $8,700**
Abstract Textures 3.2 continues the spiral design form in larger repeats than found in the earlier pieces of this series. Whole cloth construction with hand applied dyes from condiment bottles, created the ground. Bright tones of yellow, purple, grey, turquoise, and black are the predominant colors until viewed more closely, and then small areas of olive, lime green, and a dark golden yellow appear.
As I review my notes on the Abstract Textures 2… and 3… series in 2022, I realize that the ground textiles for all eight of these were dye painted three months before my father died of Lewy Body Dementia in 2014. The stress and mental anguish I was experiencing then, is very much reflected in the harsh dye designs. The spiral textural design I had put on each piece in 2014 and then hand stitched years later, reflects the uncontrolled whirlwind I felt I was in at the time.
Dense hand stitching of purple and yellow gold threads provides visual and physical texture as well as shadowing effects. Accents of Cayenne Red thread add thin jolts of color. An image of the back of the artwork and a close-up of the textural stitching shows the extent of the meticulous workmanship.
Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, increases the display options for this work. Merging this artwork with any or all, of the pieces in the series, creates a dynamic contemporary artwork with unlimited shape and size installation possibilities.

**Available for Purchase – $8,200**
Blue Moon Rising is another artwork that has been a long time in production. The double moons are the headwater of the Medici River which ends at the mountain range. Intimate viewing brings out the subtle details, shadows, and texture of the piece emphasized by the intricate stitching.
This piece was begun in 2014 using remnants from the artwork Moon Shadow but decreasing the scale of the work to a more rectangular format. I had the river and white moon section along with the salmon hand dyed ground but wasn’t sure how to bring it all together. Finally found the dark teal blue remnant in my fabric inventory and designed the mountain and shadow for the moon. The textural hand stitched design and floating abstract ghost images became apparent in July of 2022 as I began the final construction and hand stitching. This wall artwork is intended to be hung in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, which gives it many different appearances and keeps the work fresh for collectors and viewers.
Rusted Lace #7

(c) 2020-2022 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York
Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Rust Pigmented Textile
**Available for Purchase – $15,500**
Rusted Lace #7 is a continuation of the ongoing Rusted Lace series. The ground is a whole cloth textile that has been hand dyed using light turquoise and medium fuchsia. Examining the piece closely reveals crystal and ice-like shapes resulting from the dyeing process.
Scientific iron filings and butcher paper were used to rust the custom design onto the ground. Dense hand stitching echoing the rusted design, creates the shadow and light play across the artwork using light blue thread in the background and rust colored thread on the design created in the rusting process.
The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation.

Abstract Textures 3.3 continues the spiral design form in larger repeats than found in the earlier pieces of this series. Whole cloth construction with hand applied dyes from condiment bottles, created the ground for the artwork. Bright tones of yellow, fuchsia, purple, turquoise, and muted black are the predominant colors until viewed more closely, and then small areas of olive, chartreuse, and a golden yellow appear.
As I review my notes on the Abstract Textures 2… and 3… series in 2022, I realize that the ground textiles for all eight of these were dye painted three months before my father died of Lewy Body Dementia in 2014. The stress and mental anguish I experienced then, is very much reflected in the harsh dye application and frantic designs. The spiral textural design I had put on each piece in 2014 and hand stitched years later, reflect the uncontrolled whirlwind I felt I was in at the time and now am reliving again with different family members.
Dense hand stitching of sapphire blue, yellow green, orange yellow, fuchsia, grey, and dark grey threads provide visual and physical texture as well as shadowing effects. Navy blue thread creates the abstract turbulence in each stitched spiral. An image of the back of the artwork and a close-up of the textural stitching shows the extent of the meticulous workmanship.
