From “Lustron Stories”. This one was in Salem OH. Lustron manufactured porcelain enamel steel houses in Columbus between 1948 and 1950. I set out to photograph the people living in these homes, all these years later. This project was done with the cooperation of the Ohio History Connection. Trillium Books, an imprint of The Ohio State University Press, published the book. When we exhibit this project, the 30×39 in frames are made of the same material as the houses.

I used my 8×10 wooden camera to photograph traditional hardware stores around the country. These stores are a more traditional view of retail, dedicated to people who want to make and fix things. These images like to be big, 36×44″ in wooden frames where the glazing is held with storm door channel.

From “The Album Project”. When Isaac Mintz, a young man with autism, was 15 he developed scoliosis. We did not know how to explain the surgery to him. To help him, we bought him a Polaroid Spectrum camera so could take photos in the hospital and help show him what had happened. He took to this camera and filled over 20 albums of carefully annotated images, all taken by him. Everything, including the writing and the assembly of the albums, is his work. This resulted in the book, “The Album Project.” The images are 24×64 in black wood frames.
