Abstract Textures 2.4 expands the undulating spiral and wave forms found in the earlier pieces of the series with double centers that feel like “eyes” looking back at the viewer. Whole cloth construction with hand brushed dyes in broad, expressive strokes, created the basis for the artwork. Muted tones of yellow, fuchsia, brown, and black are the predominant colors until viewed more closely, and then sections of orange, turquoise, grey, and green appear.
Dense hand stitching of purple and green threads brings forth the visual and physical texture. Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which opens up the display options for this work. Merging this artwork with any or all, of the pieces in the series, creates a dynamic contemporary artwork with unlimited shape and size installation possibilities.

The Aged Psychedelic series is the beginning of my exploration of transferring the marbling process to textiles. This series of ten pieces uses airbrush paint as the dye to create the marbled surface design. I have found that the airbrush paint changes the hand of the textile ground and makes my signature dense hand stitching more difficult to achieve. These pieces are smaller compared to most of my usual work.
Aged Psychedelic #4 continues my exploration of using the geared drawing tool, Wild Gears, for designing my hand stitched designs directly onto the artwork. The airbrush paint colorations are visually bold and the hand stitched design both comes forward and recesses into the marbled background. I am excited about the potential for expanding both the marbling technique and the gear design set as a design tool for hand stitching to my larger pieces in an upcoming series.
This artwork is designed to be displayed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation and will be spectacular paired up with several of the other pieces in this series.

The Aged Psychedelic series is the starting point of my exploration of transferring the marbling process to textiles. This series of ten pieces uses airbrush paint as the dye to create the marbled surface design. I have found that the heaviness of the airbrush paint changes the hand of the textile ground and makes my signature dense hand stitching more difficult to achieve. These experimental pieces are smaller compared to most of my usual work.
Aged Psychedelic #6 continues my exploration of using the geared drawing tool, Wild Gears, for designing my hand stitched designs directly onto the artwork. The airbrush paint coloration features some olive green, yellow, grey, and blue. Up close inspection reveals delicate changes in color in the marbled ground. The hand stitched design highlights the marbled background in this piece and enhances the feeling of fireworks when viewed in different orientations.
This piece is designed to be displayed in a horizontal or vertical orientation and will be spectacular paired up with several of the other pieces in this series for a collage display.

Fractured Gello #3: Autumn to Winter is a continuation of the Fractured ‘Gello series referencing the underlying traditional needlepoint embroidery and quilting pattern, called Bargello. The Bargello name originates from the Bargello Palace (1255), now an art museum, in Florence, Italy where chairs were discovered with a “flame stitch” embroidery pattern.
The fracturing on this piece was done after the artwork was completed. The black lines are hand applied using handmade bias tape. Dense hand stitching in small linear and diagonal patterns, in seven different colors, enhance the piece. This stitching gives the artwork visual and physical texture resulting in interesting shadowing effects in various lighting conditions. This large-scale textile artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation.

This piece is the first completed art quilt in my abstract series entitled: Scribble. It is based on a drawing technique I did as a child, utilizing crayons and a piece of paper. This piece is constructed using commercial fabrics and handmade bias tape. The piece is hand appliquéd and heavily hand quilted. This textile artwork is designed to be able to hang in any orientation making it very versatile in where and how it can be displayed.

This art quilt is the second in the abstract series, Scribble. It is based on a drawing technique from my childhood utilizing crayons and a piece of paper. Commercial fabrics are used to construct this textile artwork. Hand appliquéd handmade bias tape is utilized to create the design. The dense hand quilting gives quilt visual texture and makes the viewer want to reach out and touch the piece. The piece is designed to be displayed in any orientation changing the look of the design dramatically.
Sound Waves #7: Pulse
Sound Waves #7: Pulse (19” x 43.5”/48 x 110cm)

Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Textile
$3,800
**Available exclusively through Blink Art Resource a division of Art Design Consultants, Cincinnati, Ohio**
Sound Waves #7: Pulse is moving away from the static graphic lines earlier in the series and morphing into abstractions of pulsations. This piece references sonar which is used to identify an object using sound waves. The sound waves create an “echo” that can be read as pulses on a sonar screen and heard audibly. Turquoise and fuchsia are the dominating colors in this piece with subtle nuances of truffle brown. Undulating waves of hand stitched thread in two shades of blue, create interesting shadows and light play across the artwork. The work is specifically designed to be displayed in any orientation, vertical or horizontal, which makes it a versatile display piece.
