The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement

My paintings are explorations of potential and transformation.

In my recent works on potential, I employ scientific phenomena as metaphors for the continuum of human potential. Gravitational potential energy seen in a balanced rock anticipates change. Seeds are opportunities for growth. Fossils are hardened energy. Cosmic gas and dust that might birth planets show grand potential.

My paintings celebrate texture, color, and form. I crop focal areas of natural objects or moments to produce dynamic abstract compositions.

I use experimental and intuitive approaches to process and materials. I combine drawing and painting techniques to contrast the marks of pencil or crayon with the strokes of paint.  I experiment with resist effects and the interplay of control and chance.

I am inspired by large open water like Lake Erie, near my home. These vast bodies of water calm me, bringing stillness and depth. I am at home in the natural and understated beauty of free and overlooked places.
