The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

My name is Samantha Tripi, I am an undergraduate student at Bowling Green State University; pursuing the degree of Art Education. Primarily, my main focus is in painting and drawing (watercolor and acrylic) , but my secondary medium is printmaking (particularly intaglio/etching). I graduated from Medina High school and Medina County Career Center in 2023. I was in the digital design program from 2021-2023 and have been certified as a digital artist through Adobe Illustrator. I am an aspiring to become an Art Educator after I graduating in 2027, but I have had experience in teaching art for students  in the Buckeye Book Camp.

Artist Statement

Visual art serves as my primary language, a way to articulate experiences and emotions that often elude words. I  typically delve into the beauty of the mundane in everyday life. This helped me reflect the extraordinary moments in the ordinary. Noticing small, ordinary things shift my perspective from a passive observer to an active creator, engaging in a state that would be part of my artistic process. Becoming aware of these small memories led me to see the world in an artistic lens; interpreting and capturing the world through a creative perspective. This point of view directed me to perceive myself as an artist in my other personas that I participate in. For instance, a role that surprisingly correlates my artistic ability is when I perform athletically, more specifically when I play rugby. My journey as an athlete has been deeply intertwined with the artistic exploration. The discipline, the movements, and the physical expression inherent in sports like rugby have been a parallel passion alongside my academic pursuits. It is in this duality that I have discovered a profound connection. Athletic movements are a potent for of self expression, mirroring the very essence of how I communicate through my art.
