The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. I was born and raised in New Delhi India, where my art journey began at a young age. Now I have been a visual artist for more than fifty years, and over the years I have painted in different mediums whichever I felt like working with. Initially I painted in watercolor, batik art, charcoal drawings, oil color, acrylic paints, fabric paints, and now I paint on silk fabric with silk color dyes, similar to watercolor but using water based resist, which prevents color dyes to bleed into other areas of the painting.
I am a self taught silk artist and I feel good about it because it is a difficult medium to work with but with trial and error I managed to learn. It’s been nine years since I started painting on silk and now I can call myself a silk artist, working hard, accepting challenges of learning new techniques, making different kinds of art, including women silk and chiffon scarves, to landscape and floral wall art. I love nature so all my designs are based around that theme.
Neera is a self taught accomplished silk artist, she hand paints on silk fabric with silk color dyes and makes women silk and chiffon scarf accessories along with silk wall art. She loves nature so likes to paint floral and landscape design themes.
Silk is a challenging and unforgiving medium but very rewarding. Neera challenges herself daily to learn new techniques to make new artwork and currently she is working on making silk wearable art aside for scarves.
