The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond, to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio
A native of Wisconsin, MP was introduced to fine art hand papermaking while in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin. After working as an art educator in the Racine Public Schools, MP decided become a self-employed artist and sell her artwork at art fairs throughout the country. As an early practitioner in the revival of HPM, she has always been aware of and respectful of the long traditions of HPM, and seeks to continue those traditions through her constant experimentation, image-making and teaching. MP moved to rural north central Ohio in 2004 and quickly began the construction of her new papermaking studio, The Prints and the Pulper ™, as well as forming important liaisons with the Mansfield Art center and the Morgan Conservancy in Cleveland. MP has been at the forefront of HPM since the early 1970’s, and has garnered national recognition from places such as the Smithsonian Institute, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. She has had her work in a number of exhibitions and galleries throughout Ohio, including the Butler Institute of American Art, The Dairy Barn, The Mansfield Art Center, and the Morgan Conservancy.
Artist Statement
I am an image maker, using color, shape and line within known and experimental concepts of paper-pulp as my medium. There is a magic in transforming the natural elements of a substance into the expression of another. Composition and gesture are my language, my form of communication. My over-arching intention is the expression of freedom, one idea, one series at a time.
