Mac Love was born in New York City, grew up in Brussels, Belgium, earned his Master’s Degree in Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art, in Scotland, and is a lifelong and diehard Cleveland sports fan. He met his wife Allyse, a native Akronite, while working at Sterling Brands in the Empire State Building in 2010. They moved back to Ohio in 2013, Co-Founded Art x Love in 2015, and live in Akron with their two children.
Mac Love has more than 30 years of experience as an international artist, and has work permanently displayed in galleries, institutions, and collections across six continents. He has also produced hundreds of public art and placemaking projects. Throughout his career, Love has also worked on projects for Disney, Proctor & Gamble, Bayer, Nike, The Trust for Public Land, John Carroll University, Advance Ohio, Major League Baseball, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, and many more.
Mac Love is the Lead Artist, Co-Founder & Chief Catalyst at Art x Love, a creative agency that strategically designs art to change how people think, feel, and operate in select environments. “We make art work,” says Love.
Mac is the president of Leadership Akron Class 38, and serves on the board of Akron Roundtable, Keep Akron Beautiful, and the Akron Bicentennial Commission. In 2021, Mac was recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives for “preserving the history of the area” with the Rubber Worker Statue & Akron Stories project, and by Mitchell J. Silver, the New York City Parks Commissioner, for “one of the best examples of creative community engagement I have ever seen” with the @PLAY project.
