John Leon is a first generation Greek-American who creates sculpture in bronze, stone, wood, clay, steel, and resins.
A sculptor all his life, he made it his profession in 1980. His sculptures range from the exacting realism of portraiture to stylized, abstract, figurative creations in sizes from tabletop to monumental outdoor pieces. He has created over 550 bronze sculptures, dozens of stone and wood carvings, bas-reliefs, awards, and countless pieces in clay, cast stone, and resins that can be found in private, public, and corporate collections on five continents. He attended the University of Cincinnati and The Cincinnati Art Academy and studied privately with Walter Driesback and Jay Bolotin.
He has exhibited his work in museums and galleries through out the U.S. and in Costa Rica. He is a member of, and has exhibited with, the National Sculpture Society and the Cincinnati Art Club. He is currently represented by Gallery 708 in Cincinnati, Ohio and The Courtyard Gallery in New Buffalo, Michigan. Clients have included the Universities of Cincinnati and Dayton; Wright Patterson Air Force Base; the cities of Cincinnati and Vandalia, OH, Fort Lupton, CO, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, and Carbondale PA; Procter and Gamble, Kroger, Leidos, Cincom, and Prasco corporations; the Cincinnati Zoo, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, and the libraries of Middletown, OH and Frankfort, IN among many others.
