The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Jeff Jackson

Bio

Jeff Jackson is a steel sculptor from Bay View, Ohio. Though mostly self taught, a vocational welding course he took as a teenager introduced him to welding. Shortly after that course he realized welding professionally was not for him, but he continued to repair small projects for family and friends. Years later it clicked that welding could be a perfect outlet for his creativity and after many years of smoke, sparks, and shrapnel, his skills grew from simple found object art to sculptures that are created with thousands of pieces of metal. To this day he still enjoys creating simple whimsical sculptures and continues to create them along with larger projects.

Jeff debuts his most intricate sculptures (and sells versions of his fans favorites) at Mr. Smith’s Coffee House in Sandusky, Ohio.

Artist Statement

One of the ways Jeff finds his inspiration is transporting his sculptures to local art walks and engaging with people who approach his sculptures with wonder and smiles. These brief but joyful interactions keep him in his studio, staring at mountains of steel, waiting for the next idea to spark.
