Artist Statement
Film photography is not just a medium for me—it’s a way of seeing the world. Born and raised in Greenville, Ohio, I have always been captivated by the everyday moments that often go unnoticed. Inspired by the timeless quality of Life magazine’s photojournalism, my work seeks to capture the raw and unfiltered essence of life.
Shooting primarily on 35mm film with my trusted Leica M3, and favoring the rich contrasts of Kodak Tri-X black and white film, I strive to document the stories that unfold around us. My photography is deeply influenced by the greats such as Mary Ellen Mark, Larry Burrows, Eugene Smith, Robert Frank, Joel Meyerowitz, and Fred Herzog. Their profound, candid imagery serves as a guiding light in my journey.
My solo exhibitions at the Greenville Public Library and Coldwater Library allowed me to share my vision and connect with my community on a deeper level. Currently, as the event photographer for Darke County Parks, I continue to explore the interplay between people and their environments, capturing moments that resonate with authenticity and emotion.
Looking ahead, I am excited to embark on my current project documenting the streets of Greenville, Ohio. Through a street photography / photojournalistic style reminiscent of my influences, I aim to create a visual tapestry that reflects the soul of this town and its people.
Each photograph I take is an attempt to freeze a moment in time, to tell a story that might otherwise go untold. In a world that moves so quickly, I hope my work encourages viewers to pause and see the beauty in the ordinary.
