The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Bio

Evelyn McBride (she/they) is a graphic designer and muralist living and creating in Columbus, Ohio. Having graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design in 2021 with a BFA in Advertising & Graphic Design, she immediately found a passion for getting involved in the arts & design community in Central Ohio. She currently works full-time as a graphic designer in higher education and volunteers with local arts organizations such as the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA) and 934 Gallery. Along with design, she paints large-scale murals and contributes to public art opportunities around the Central Ohio area.

In the fall of 2022, she painted her first mural and instantly fell in love with the medium. She gravitates towards using vivid colors in her work, creating graphic-like large scale murals which brings visibility to themes of queer joy and self-care. She enjoys participating in public art events and festivals, painting positive messages and connecting with onlookers. Since that first mural in 2022, she’s been able to create multiple murals around Columbus and is forever looking forward to the next one.

Artist Statement

As a graphic designer and muralist, I strive to create work that brings visibility and representation to values and messaging that are important to me. My work displays themes of joy and self-care, often with an LGBTQ+ focus. With my experience in graphic design, I make use of graphic-like vector images, vivid color palettes, and lettering to create eye-catching visuals with positive affirmations and representation onlookers can resonate with.
