I’m Anna Sokol, a Columbus-based abstract artist creating large-scale, mixed-media paintings rooted in color, movement, and the seasons we move through. My work balances energy and calm—heat and hush—using layered texture and expressive mark-making to explore the quiet stories inside busy lives.
Inspired by relationships, music, literature, and the rhythms of everyday moments, I create pieces that feel both grounding and alive, bringing depth and a sense of place to modern homes and communal spaces.
Artist Statement
As I shape the piece, my intuition guides me as I layer on acrylics, pastels, charcoal, and even crayons, merging text snippets and found objects. Each addition breathes life into the canvas, transforming it into a unique expression of my vision. The grand finale? I added metallic embellishments to accentuate my mark-making and define the lines, making the artwork complete. This journey from chaos to harmony is what makes each piece so exhilarating!
