The Ohio Artist Registry (OAR) is an exciting opportunity for artists to share their work, connect with the creative community, and establish an online presence—all on a free, virtual platform! The OAR encourages artists working in all art forms, throughout Ohio and beyond,  to create a profile, which allows them to better promote themselves and their work. Being listed in the OAR provides artists with new opportunities to share their work with clients, galleries, patrons, and audiences. A listing in the OAR does not confer an endorsement, approval, or verification by the Ohio Arts Council.

Artist Statement

I am seeking to find the means to outline the outrageous, the horrific, grotesque,
exaggerated, and comedic-all in one. To explore the montage of line, color,
space, form-destruction, construction, renewal; of seeing afresh, mark, shape, form,
color; all in an effort to bring figuration to the point of being nearly recognizable, then let it hang, undefined. What will happen if I allow remnants of stories, pushed together, to create new meanings, ask new questions and confuse, distort and acknowledge an uncertain narrative? One doesn’t know what it is but one knows its there.

My intention is to rediscover the unique, varied and at times
diffuse ways that I have approached art-making in such a way that a new and unexpected
body of work can emerge. I hope to make unrestrained and ultimately unknowable
work, filled with scale shifts, reversals, doings and undoings that undermine and
challenge know ability; work verging on the readable only to become an enigma, posing
rather than answering questions.

I am allowing what I find to “hang out,” to allow it to be both wise and dumb and I am
looking forward to seeing where this all goes as I return to the studio to actualize my discoveries through work.
